F. M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts is the best venue to see Broadway shows, comedians, concerts and cultural events in downtown Wilkes-Barre.
First opened in 1938 as the Comerford Movie Theater, this Art-Deco jewel features a richly restored interior with a stunning Art Deco proscenium frame and friezes. The Kirby Center was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
This vintage venue has been lovingly restored. The lavish interior retains all it's Art Deco charms but with modern amenities like nice, clean restrooms, a bar in lobby and comfy red velvet seats.
F. M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts continues to offer the Wilkes-Barre community the best of the performing arts and entertainment, while close to home, and at a reasonable price.
